Ayurvedic Consultation and Treatment

Ayurveda is an ancient art of medicine that addresses the individual's entire wellbeing for sustainable balance. The teachings support the idea that all life must be supported by energy in balance, primarily through diet, meditation, and body work. By learning about one’s Dosha, an individual’s unique temperament and constitution, a person can better address the causes of any physical and psychological unbalance. Ayurveda complements allopathic medicine through attainable changes, including homeopathic treatments, body work, meditation, and dietary guidance. The goal is sustainable wellness.

Dosha Assessment

In Ayurveda, each of us has a unique mind-body type, known as a Dosha. According to Ayurveda, Doshas are the forces that flow through our bodies, and govern our thinking and behavior. There are three primary Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each person has some combination of each Dosha; the dominance of one or two of these Doshas creates each individual unique personality, tendencies, and physical nature. To find and maintain balance, this unique Dosha constitution needs to be in a state of equilibrium. When it isn’t, illness develops. Understanding your Dosha reveals how to free yourself of dis-ease.

Balancing and Cleansing

According to Ayurveda, all dis-ease is simply an over-abundance or provocation of one or more Dosha(s) in the body. Each of the Doshas is made up of qualities such as hot or cold, dry or oily, rough or smooth, mobile or static. To bring any provoked Dosha back in to balance, the opposite qualities are applied. This balancing is achieved through a diet tailored towards the individual’s healing goals, including careful cleansing routines, herbal remedies, warm oil treatments, massage, yoga, meditation, and other practices.
